The SFMNP is designed to enhance the nutritional well-being of senior citizens by ensuring their access to a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Commissioner Chairman Sergio Granados commented on the program's positive impact on seniors and its contribution to community cohesion and local farmer support. The program, which caters to seniors aged 60 and above, benefits both the seniors and the local agricultural community by supporting USDA approved farmers markets in New Jersey. The Union County Board of County Commissioners is continuing with the Union County Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), aimed at providing low-income seniors with access to fresh, locally sourced produce.
